Fun facts about Bewitched


Here are some facts about the TV series Bewitched.  If you know any facts, please comment them in the comment section.  Seems there are many facts about the show all over the net.   



✔  Dick York hurt his back while filming  "They Came to Cordura"  in 1958.  The movie was released in January 1959.  He stated the muscles along the right side of his back tore. York stated that it was the start of all the pain, the painkillers, the addiction, the lost career.  He was on Bewitched from 1964-69. Dick Sargent took over the role of Darrin.

✔   In 1970 the set of Bewitched burnt down.

✔ The Bewitched house is located at 411 N Hollywood Way, Burbank, CA 91505.  If you put the address in google you can see the house is still at Warner Brothers.  Here is what it looks like now:


✔ Tabatha was named after a friends child.  The spelling was suppose to be Tabitha.  Elizabeth Montgomery said that somehow it was in the credits at the end of the show with an A.  She was not happy with it.


✔ Alice Pearce was the original Glady Kravitz.  She was on the show from 1964-1966.  She died 3 March 1966 from Ovarian Cancer, she was only 48 years old.  Sandra Gould took over the role as nosy neighbor Glady Kravitz in 1966.

✔  Elizabeth Montgomery was pregnant 3 times during the series.  She had Robert in 1965, Rebecca in 1969 and John in 1971. 

  Erin Murphy who played Tabatha has a twin sister.  Here name is Diane Murphy and she also played Tabatha on the show.

✔  The role of Samantha Stephens was original cast to Tammy Grimes.  Grimes passed and the role was given to Elizabeth Montgomery.  The original name was Cassandra Stephens, but Elizabeth didn't like it and was changed to Samantha.

✔  Bewitched wasn't cancelled because of low ratings.  It was already on for seasons 9 and 10 but Elizabeth wanted out when her marriage started to unravel.  Her and Archer divorced a year later.

✔  Dick Sargent died of cancer in 1994.  He was a gay man and the rumor says he passed from Aids, he did not.
